"Since joining the DeKalb Technical College staff in 2004, there has been an assortment of exciting tasks and rewarding accomplishments. My initial challenge was to assemble legislators in joining community leaders and state government officials to gain support for the college’s capital outlay project. The dedication, knowledge and energy of our employees helped tremendously in garnering support for the Governor’s budget recommendation for new construction and renovation. In the summer of 2005, a long-awaited Groundbreaking Ceremony took place with employees and students from all campus locations hosting a large crowd of local, county and state officials.
During the past two years, membership on the college’s Board of Directors and Foundation Board has been enhanced to include individuals who not only represent the business and industry sector in DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton and Morgan counties, but also the cultural diversity of our student and employee population. Both boards are actively engaged in planning for the college’s future growth and value our faculty and staff’s input into the strategic planning process. The Foundation has recently launched their ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign with close to $5,000 in bricks being purchased by DeKalb Tech employees.
At the 2005 conference of the National Council on Marketing and Public Relations, DeKalb Technical College received the Silver Paragon Award for “The News,” a quarterly publication which highlights the accomplishments of the college and its employees. This year’s ad campaign spotlighted DTC graduates and the companies who hire them; we have high hopes of bringing home The Gold to share with all the quality people who help make our jobs productive and enjoyable.
During the short time I’ve been employed at DeKalb Technical College, the employees have been extremely valuable, positive and responsive to my needs as a manager and colleague. I am extremely proud to be associated with DeKalb Tech and will continue to rely on a team effort to promote the good work that’s being accomplished each day by so many well qualified individuals." |
