Class Attendance

Students enrolled in college programs are preparing themselves for direct entry into gainful employment. Employers state that the main characteristic sought in potential employees is dependability and punctuality. The importance of student attendance is emphasized at DeKalb Technical College and all students are expected to be present and prompt for all class sessions. Therefore, students may be subject to dismissal from individual classes or the college for excessive absences.

At the beginning of each quarter, academic departments must define absentee limits for the students in each course.

A student may be withdrawn from a course after exceeding the maximum number of absences allowed by the instructor, unless the final absence falls within the last 10 days of the quarter, in which case the student will receive an "F". Student dismissal for excessive absences will be a joint decision made by the instructor, the Department Head, and the Academic Dean.

ABSENT OR PRESENT, STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ASSIGNED WORK IN EACH CLASS.

Student Picture I.D.
All students enrolled at DeKalb Technical College must have in their possession and display their student I.D.  For protection, the student I.D. must be kept in the possession of the student at all times.  Students who are asked to show their I.D. to Security Officers or DeKalb Technical College employees may be asked to leave campus if they do not have the I.D. in their possession.  Student I.D. pictures are made on New Student Registration day(s) and on Drop-Add day(s).  Current students with an I.D. must have it validated each quarter.  This process can be completed at the Office of Student Activities Monday through Friday.
