GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Degrees, diplomas, and certificates are granted each quarter; however, only the Summer Quarter graduation exercise is formal. Students completing requirements for graduation in December, March, or June may elect to participate in the Summer Quarter graduation. Final responsibility for meeting these requirements rests with the student. The Catalog is the document used for graduation evaluation. A student may select to be evaluated for graduation from any Catalog in effect during the time of enrollment provided (1) the enrollment has been continuous, and (2) the Catalog is not more than four (4) years old. To remain continuously enrolled, a student must not have an absence of four (4) or more consecutive quarters from DeKalb Technical College. Students readmitted or reinstated will be evaluated for graduation from that year’s Catalog in effect at the time of readmission or reinstatement. Students not completing the Catalog requirements in four (4) years will be evaluated using the current Catalog. All other academic procedures and graduation requirements must be satisfied according to regulations in effect at the time of graduation. Students desiring further information on the selection of an appropriate Catalog may contact their major Department Chairperson or the Registrar. After graduating, a student who plans to continue their education with DeKalb Tech must declare a new major by submitting a new application for admission prior to the application deadline for that quarter or future quarter. No application fee is required. The following requirements for graduation must be met by all students regardless of the degree or diploma to be granted: 1. All degree, diploma, or certificate program students must achieve Regular Admission status prior to applying for graduation. 2. Students must earn an overall grade point average of 2.0 ("C") or better on courses presented for graduation. Students must file an application for graduationin their program of study with their Department Chairperson in the quarter preceding the quarter in which they wish to graduate by the established deadline as published in the quarterly Schedule of Classes. 4. Students should be registered at DeKalb Technical College at the time of completing the work. Exceptions may be approved by the appropriate Academic Dean. 5. Students must complete electives as required by program of study. 6. When a student attends two or more state technical colleges, the degree/diploma will be awarded by the college within which the larger number of hours has been accumulated. 7. Students must settle all financial obligations to DeKalb Technical College before a certificate, diploma, degree, or transcript will be issued. 8. Graduates seeking a second degree, diploma, certificate from DeKalb Technical College must complete all requirements for the second credential. The second credential must include a minimum of 30 academic credit hours above the hours submitted for the first degree/diploma. 9. By registering for a course for which the student has already received credit at DeKalb Tech, a student forfeits the previous credit in that course for graduation purposes. The student’s official grade in the course will be the one earned on repetition.
