ONLINE LEARNING allows students flexibility, access to new courses,
and the convenience of learning at any time and at any pace. Perfect
for those students unable to attend class in a traditional classroom
setting or for those wanting an alternative to the classroom, online
learning allows you the control to determine how and when you want
to learn.
These classes offer the same, high-quality instruction you receive
in the classroom with the added benefits of flexibility and convenience
in both scheduling and participation. The classes are offered in several
formats in order to accommodate your learning style and scheduling
needs.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO TAKE AN ONLINE COURSE?
1. A Computer with:
Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, NT4 or 2000; or MacOS 8 operating system
Screen Resolution of 800 x 600 @256 colors
Browsers
Netscape 4.5 or latest release (excluding version 6.0)
Internet Explorer 5.0
AOL 5.0
2. An Internet Provider Service (ISP)
An Internet Service Provider is a company that can provide you
with software necessary to gain access to the Internet. There are
many different providers (ISPs) available (i.e. MindSpring,
AOL, etc.) You can contact any of them to set up your personal account.
AOL users should be aware of certain compatibility problems.
3. An E-mail Account
You will need an email account to communicate. Your ISP will provide
you with free e-mail. Any of the search engines also offer e-mail
accounts free of charge. When you sign up on the internet, ask about
your e-mail account.
TO SUCCESSFULLY CONNECT TO ON LINE COURSES,
YOU MUST:
1. Meet hardware and software minimum requirements.
2. Have Internet access with a 28.8 modem or faster.
3. Accept browser cookies.
4. Enable JavaScript on your Web browser.
5. Set your browser to refresh at every page.
6. Not be behind a firewall that blocks cookies or blocks access
to a secure server.
