CPR and a 4-hour First Aid course. CPR, a lifesaving technique
of treatment for sudden death or respiratory arrest, involves
a combination of rescue breathing and chest compressions. These
techniques provide basic emergency life support by keeping oxygenated
blood flowing to the brain and other organs until appropriate
medical advanced life support can restore heart action. Skills
taught are one-man CPR for the conscious and unconscious adult,
and choking for the adult victim. The First Aid course provides
students with skills to care for victims in an emergency situation
prior to the arrival of professional assistance. It deals with
common injuries and illnesses. |
