Prerequisite: None. This instructor-led course is designed to provide the student with a brief overview of microcomputer concepts, the Windows XP operating system, the Internet, Email and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint (2003 version) applications. Upon successful completion of this course, the student should have a general understanding of how a computer operates, what factors to consider when purchasing a computer, general day-to-day interactions between the user and Windows, as well as enough information about MS Office 2003 to determine their interest in further study of these applications.

You will be introduced to Outlook features and the steps required to use the features correctly. The course teaches you how to organize, find, and archive Outlook data; format e-mail messages; use your Calendar to schedule meetings; access your contacts to which you can assign speed dial numbers and tasks; send and receive faxes; use e-mail security features; create and use custom forms; integrate Outlook with other Office applications; and use Outlook with the Internet. Electrical

BASIC ELECTRICITY 4.0 CEU

The course will include components on electricity and personal safety, the electron theory, sources and symbols of electricity, components of electrical circuitry, instruments for reading values in electric circuits and types of circuits and relationships of voltage and current in electric circuits. Chapters will also cover magnetism, alternating current theory, inductance and capacitance in electrical circuits and basic law through construction to application of transformers.

Health and Safety

CPR AND FIRST AID 0.8 CEU
8 Hours
A 4-hour CPR and a 4-hour First Aid course. CPR, a lifesaving technique of treatment for sudden death or respiratory arrest, involves a combination of rescue breathing and chest compressions. These techniques provide basic emergency life support by keeping oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other organs until appropriate medical advanced life support can restore heart action. Skills taught are one-man CPR for the conscious and unconscious adult, and choking for the adult victim. The First Aid course provides students with skills to care for victims in an emergency situation prior to the arrival of professional assistance. It deals with common injuries and illnesses.

COMMUNITY SPANISH 2.4 CEU

An introduction to the Hispanic language and culture, with emphasis on simple oral communication skills. Students will learn the basics of Spanish pronunciation, language structure, and a variety of vocabulary and typical phrases for use in conversation.

BUSINESS WRITING 0.8 CEU

The first step to effective business writing is determining whether or not written correspondence is appropriate. Through the use of guidelines and practice, participants will learn to identify common situations in which written correspondence is necessary. Participants will have the opportunity to draft formal business letters, interoffice memos, and electronic mail. Emphasis will be placed on organizing clear and concise documents for various business situations. Participants will also learn the role tone plays in communicating business information. In addition, exercises will be provided to allow participants to edit and revise their work resulting in the increased confidence needed to write more easily and effectively.

Real Estate

REAL ESTATE PRE-LICENSE SALES 8.0 CEU
80 Hours
A 80-hour in -class pre-license course (to provide completion of the 75-hour minimum required by law) that teaches the fundamentals of real estate. The course introduces the language of the profession, the basic theory underlying the duties and responsibilities of real estate licensees, and seeks to develop and improve the student's skills in handling the normal business activities of a licensee. Designed to prepare students for licensure as real estate agents, the course content follows requirements outline in the Georgia Real Estate Manual. The Georgia real estate commission approves this course as meeting the 75-hour education requirement to take the state of Georgia real estate exam.
