Dual or Joint Enrollment & Articulation
In 2002, DeKalb Technical College (DTC) conducted an assessment of local businesses and industries to identify specific needs of our growing employment opportunities in our service delivery area. The results indicated that in the future, workers must be highly skilled and have more technical training if they are to meet the needs of the ever-changing workforce. As an answer to these growing needs, DeKalb Technical College joined forces with local public school systems to build a Career Pathways program that provides an advanced level of training unavailable in the existing high schools. This partnership between local high schools and DeKalb Technical College will give students the opportunity to simultaneously work toward a high school diploma and earn a Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC).
Dual Enrollment permits students in high school, age 16 and older to enroll in courses at DeKalb Technical College to earn both college and high school credits.
Joint Enrollment permits students in high school, age 16 and older to enroll in courses at DeKalb Technical College for college credit only.
Articulation is a partnership agreement between DeKalb Technical College and the high school system that provides an opportunity to earn college credit for courses taken in high school that are the same as technical college courses (page 10).
