PLC
Training at DeKalb Technical College
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are by textbook definition "solid-state members of the computer family, using integrated circuits instead of electromechanical devices to implement control functions." More simply put, PLCs are the computers that use programmable logic to control automated machinery whether it is in a manufacturing plant or in an amusement park.
If your company is a chemical/petrochemical, glass/film, good/beverage,
lumber/pulp paper, manufacturing/machining, metal, mining, power or
any other company that uses Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
to perform various control tasks, then your company will be interested
in the upcoming PLC classes at DeKalb Technical College's Newton Center in Covington.
The Mobile Training Unit will be on campus throughout the year. Windows/Word computer experience and knowledge of relay logic/ ladder diagrams are recommended. The course runs Mondays through Thursdays from 8am - 5pm and each class is limited to ten attendees. Discount rates are available for those taking PLC I and II at DeKalb Technical College.
The Allen Bradley PLC-5 and SLC-500 trained instructors from QuickStart travel to technical colleges in Georgia offering high-tech, hands-on, and up-to date instruction.
The PLC van uses Allen Bradley PLC-5 and SLC-500 PLCs and the software used is Rockwell RS Logix 5 and 500 products. With advance notice, other types of PLCs are available.
The PLC program is a successful program at DeKalb Tech. Local companies
are able to provide this training for a fraction of the cost charged
by metro Atlanta companies without the employees having to drive to
Atlanta. Many shift employees are able take the PLC training by leaving
work early or coming in late and still work part of their shifts.
