A Welcome Message from Richard Smith
Vice President of Economic Development
Expansion Management Magazine recently named Georgia number one in the Nation in workforce development.
According to Expansion Management, this is due to the excellent services
of Georgia Quick Start® and the Technical College System services
for business and industry. The key to this success is an intense focus
on strategic company needs and providing top quality services.
On a National level the National Skills Standards Board (appointed
by the President of the United States) recognized Georgia’s Certified
Manufacturing Specialist Program for meeting National Skills Standards
in Manufacturing. Over twenty states are now seeking licensing agreements
for both CMS and the Certified Customer Service Specialist program.
These and other quality programs are available through DeKalb Technical
College’s office of Economic Development.
Our goal is to support corporate and personal economic growth. Our
programs enhance productivity, teamwork and employee morale. Program
content and scheduling are flexible, targeted to business needs and
performance based. Programs are available on an as needed basis. Topics
may include leadership and teambuilding, communications, computer
skills, industrial technologies, or a myriad of others.
Planning for sustained results is the goal of our training needs
analysis process. The process begins with free consultation regarding
education, training and service needs. A detailed training plan outlines
specific training opportunities for each segment of the workforce.
We create a flexible training schedule with customized content that
addresses specific performance needs. If desired, our representatives
conduct employee orientation sessions at no cost to describe opportunities
and encourage personal achievement.
