Employment Contracts

The issuance, suspension, or termination of employment contracts shall be governed by the policies of the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia.
The Technical College System of Georgia does not confer tenure upon its employees. Employees of DeKalb Technical College who achieved tenure prior to or upon conversion to state ownership of the college are entitled to retain their tenured status, and will continue to receive contracts until they meet a criterion in which contracts would no longer be issued. A tenured employee who chooses a promotion or a transfer to a different position or location shall cease to be tenured.
Effective July 2008, the practice of issuing employment contracts for all other employees of DeKalb Technical College is discontinued. Whether there is a contract or not, the benefits, terms, and conditions of employment are governed by State Board policy and procedures. The non-issuance of contracts coincides with the at-will employment status of individuals working in state government.
