Selection of Department Chairs

Department Chairs will be hired using a competitive
process. Applications and resumes are
accepted by the DeKalb Technical College Office of Human Resources. An
interview committee is appointed by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Applications are screened by the committee and interviews are scheduled with
the qualified candidates. The committee’s recommendation must be submitted
through channels to the Human Resources Office for processing.
The committee’s recommendation must receive approval
from the President. If approved, the recommended applicant is made an offer of
assignment as Department Chair. A
criteria based salary adjustment of 10% annual is awarded to the employee as
department chair. If the employee does
not maintain the position of Chair, the criteria based salary adjustment will
be deleted from base pay.
