Criteria
for Listing Faculty/Staff in Catalog
![]()
This policy addresses the criteria for listing
faculty and professional staff in the
For the purpose of this policy professional staff
refers to those employees who perform as a salaried employee in a highly
skilled or supervisory role at the College.
Names are compiled into one master alphabetical list
by the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs; faculty and
professional staff are identified by the program area in which they are
teaching. The compiled list is submitted
to the Human Resources Office for verification of degrees and current
employment status.
Currently employed faculty and professional personnel
are listed at the time the Catalog
information is submitted to the printer, for the subsequent Catalog.
Those individuals currently on staff who have resigned
in writing, for purposes of retirement or otherwise, will not be included in
the printing of the upcoming catalog.
All earned degrees for professional personnel are
listed unless omission is requested by the individual and approved by the
President. Honorary degrees are not included. Where more than one degree is
earned from a College, the College is named only once; the name of the
College is repeated when “additional graduate study” is listed. Degrees are
listed for professional personnel only when transcripts verifying those degrees
are on file in the employee’s official personnel record located in the Office
of Human Resources.
Listings will include experience and associate degrees
if one has less than a baccalaureate degree.
Certificates, such as C.D.P., C.P.A., and D.A.S.L.
are listed as they represent a level of professional achievement related to
one’s assignment; the R.N. is listed whenever one does not have a master’s degree
in nursing.
The year listed in the Catalog is the year the
faculty or staff was employed full-time.
An instructor, who teaches in more than one field,
will only be listed for the principal teaching field assigned. Faculty members on leave will be listed.
Titles, such as “Miss,” “Mrs.,”
“Mr.,” or “Dr.”, are not used.
Fragmentary academic work, such as a two or
three-hour course is not listed.
The
name of the college or university is used as listed in the current edition of
the College Bluebook, even though a transcript may show an earlier name.
Degrees are listed in the style of the Accredited
Institutions of Postsecondary Education Guide unless the degree granting College has its own abbreviation; for
example, the degree listed as “M.S. in Education” on the transcript, is listed
as M.S.Ed in the Catalog.
The teaching field, area, or discipline is listed by
the instructor’s name; this is not necessarily the name of the department.
A degree granted by a college no longer in existence
is listed under the name of that college unless its charter has been acquired
by another College, which legally claims its alumni and degrees.
Undergraduate or graduate work, later included as
part of a degree, is not listed, except for the college where the degree is
received.
