                Emeritus Status

Emeritus status is possible for retired faculty members and administrators who have been employed at DeKalb Technical College for a minimum of ten years. The process of awarding emeritus status shall begin with any department/functional area and be presented to the faculty for a vote. The recommendation from the faculty shall be presented to the President for action.

The criteria used in the selection of retired faculty members/administrators for this honor shall include professional recognition in one or more of the following areas:

 

Academically-related excellence and/or innovation

College recognition, awards, honors

Professional association recognition, awards, honors

Community service contributions, recognition, awards, honors

 

Emeritus status is an honor, but it also includes the following privileges:

 

Name included in the emeritus listing in the Catalog

Name inscribed on plaque at DeKalb Technical College

Framed certificate with name and emeritus status

Invitation to participate in commencement exercises

Invitation to participate in College activities/functions

Possession of a DeKalb Technical College ID card

Prestige of being associated with DeKalb Technical College

Provision for an on-campus parking permit

DeKalb Technical College email account

 

The honor of emeritus status shall be presented to the retired faculty member or administrator by the President.
