Compensation and Related Benefits

Employee benefits and eligibility requirements for employees of DeKalb Technical College are described in the Technical College System of Georgia policy III. U. 4 Flexible Benefits Program.  Employees have access to benefit information through the DeKalb Technical College Employee Benefits section of the intranet, and the Team Georgia and Employee Self Service web portals.

Employee benefits include but are not limited to the following:

FLEXIBLE BENEFITS PROGRAM

Employees have the opportunity to participate in a variety of insurance options.

RETIREMENT

Employees participate in the Teachers Retirement System or the Employees’ Retirement System. Contributions are based on a percentage of the employee's salary.

 

DEFERRED COMPENSATION/TAX-SHELTERED ANNUITIES

Tax sheltered plans are available that offer employees the opportunity to save for retirement. Fund programs include both 457 and 401(k) plans.  Agency specific 403b plan is available.

 

LEAVE

Annual Leave: Accrual of annual leave is based on years of continuous service and is earned as follows:

·        10 hours per month for up to 5 years of service

·        12 hours per month for 5-10 years of service

·        14 hours per month for 10+ years of service

Sick Leave: Accrual is at the rate of 10 hours per month regardless of years of service.

Holidays: Employees enjoy 12 paid holidays per year.

 

Workers’ Compensation: All employees are covered by the DOAS Self Insured Workers Compensation program for injures sustained in while conducting DTC business.

 

Family Leave:  Eligible employees are provided up to a total of 12 workweeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:

  • for the birth and care of the newborn child of the employee;
  • for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption or foster care;
  • to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or
  • to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition.

 

Staff Development Opportunities: Professional development, specialized training, coaching and mentoring opportunities, succession planning, are all career-enhancement programs offered by DTC.

 

Direct Deposit: The Automatic Deposit of Net Pay program is available to eligible, salaried and hourly employees of DeKalb Technical College.  Deposit of pay may be made to either a checking or savings account.

 

Employee Assistance Program: A confidential counseling service, paid by the employer, designed to help employees and family members who have personal problems that could interfere with their work and family life. Eligible employees, family and household members can receive free and confidential help from professional counselors through the use of the EAP.
