Student Orientation
![]()
Each
quarter DeKalb Tech invites all new students to attend an orientation
session. Participation in the orientation
session has a threefold purpose:
1.
To provide
students with important general information about DeKalb Tech;
2.
To familiarize
students with the campus and its facilities;
3.
To provide an
opportunity for students to meet other students.
A DeKalb Tech faculty member
will be the primary link students have with the College once they enroll. Faculty must acquaint students with the
offices that may answer questions and provide services for students.
Each faculty member should
plan and present an orientation session for the first class period. Some items
that should be covered are:
1.
Provide course
outline/syllabus to each student which covers:
a.
Objectives and
content of course
b.
Textbook and
related material needed by student
c.
Grading and
testing procedures
d.
Attendance
policy
e.
Work Ethics
2.
Classroom
procedures and expectations.
3.
Schedule of
class for the quarter with notice of any breaks or holidays.
4.
Safety
procedures as applicable and emergency procedures to be followed.
