Dr. Robin Hoffman, President of DeKalb Technical College, welcomed Melvin and acknowledged his importance to the DTC Board of Directors. “We are ready to work together toward educational excellence by leveraging various experiences in the regional community,” said Dr. Hoffman. “The Board is enriched by the many experiences brought by each member, and Tim Melvin is important to our high school initiatives.”
Membership on the Board of Directors for the College is an honor and also carries with it a responsibility. Board members work in close cooperation with the President of the College to accomplish the college’s mission and goals. Directors are required to discharge their duties in good faith and with the degree of diligence, care and skill that an ordinary prudent person would use under similar circumstances in comparable positions.
Melvin, a veteran educator, has led the Rockdale Career Academy since its opening in 2005 and through its positive growth of over eighteen technical majors and 1300 high school students. He holds a masters degree and advanced certification in administration and supervision. “It is a privilege to serve on the DeKalb Tech Board as I work closely with the College in many instructional, continuing education, and regional economic and workforce projects.”
“DeKalb Technical College continues to grow and prosper because of the involvement of volunteers like Mr. Melvin,” says President Hoffman. “We look forward to a long, working relationship with him and appreciate his time and energy.”
