Community-Focused Student Leaders of DeKalb Technical College Presented with Inaugural State-Wide Award

DeKalb Technical College students were the first to be awarded the Commissioner’s Cup from the Statewide Student Leadership Council. The state-wide award was developed to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of Georgia’s technical college student leaders and will remain with the school for one year.

Samantha Forrester of Covington, Georgia, Vice President of the Student Government Association at the Covington Campus, submitted the winning entry. Her submission detailed the extensive activities, community service, and training that she and her fellow SGA members completed during the school year.  Those events included the March of Dimes, Toys for Tots, and the Covington Holiday Parade. The students also hosted, “Developing Your Personal Game Plan” an officer’s training seminar featuring strategies for having a well balanced life.
