DeKalb Technical College announces 99% placement rate for graduates

DeKalb Technical College (DTC) graduates get jobs.  End of July reports by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education show that 99% of DTC students who receive a degree or a diploma get a job, with 85% being employed in their particular field of study.

DeKalb Technical College provides real-world skills for rewarding careers. “Our mission is focused and straightforward,” says DTC President Dr. Robin Hoffman. “We prepare individuals for successful employment and fulfilling careers through state-of-the-art technical education and training.

With over 120 programs of study and more being developed regularly as the marketplace demands, students at DeKalb Technical College can obtain a degree, diploma, or certificate and be prepared for the workforce within a few months or two years. In collaboration with the Technical College System of Georgia and other technical colleges in the state, DeKalb Technical College has established curriculum standards with direct involvement of business and industry. These standards serve as the industry-validated specifications which allow Georgia’s 34 technical colleges to provide a Technical Education Warranty. The Technical Education Warranty states that:

“If one of our graduates educated under a standard program or his/her employer finds that the graduate is deficient in one or more competencies as defined in the standards, the technical college will retrain the employee at no instructional cost to the employee or the employer.”  This Warranty applies to any DTC graduate who is employed in the field of his/her training and is in effect for a period of two years after graduation.

Aside from a great placement rate, an education complemented by a warranty, DeKalb Technical College students may be eligible to receive the HOPE Grant.  Georgia's HOPE Grant (a separate program from the HOPE Scholarship) is available to legal residents of Georgia who are attending a Georgia public technical college to earn a certificate or diploma regardless of high school graduation date or grade point average. The grant provides full tuition, HOPE-approved mandatory fees, and a book allowance of up to $300 per academic year at public institutions.
