Student Financial Services

Financial Aid is available to eligible students. Federal, state, and institutional aid is available in the form of grants, scholarships, and student assistant employment. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the required application for all types of financial assistance. This form is available upon request.

All students on financial aid must maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined in the DeKalb Tech Catalog. Since the financial aid year begins Summer Quarter and runs through Spring Quarter, all students choosing to remain on financial aid must reapply every year. The Office of Student Financial Services is located in A214 on the Clarkston Campus, John Gottardy, Director of Student Financial Services, gottardj@dekalbtech.edu, (404) 297-9522, ext. 3110; and in A214 on the Covington Campus, Carsandra Carraway, Student Financial Specialist, carrawac@dekalbtech.edu, (770) 786-9522, ext. 3107.

The HOPE Program
Legal residents of Georgia may be eligible for the Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE) Program. This program provides for tuition, mandatory fees, and a book allowance for students enrolled in credit programs. It also provides financial assistance to students completing a GED diploma. Part-time as well as full-time students may be eligible for the HOPE Program. An application can be obtained in the Office of Student Financial Services or on-line at www.GAcollege411.com

Veterans Educational Services
The Office of Student Financial Services assists former service personnel and other students eligible for veterans' educational benefits, and coordinates the initial documents for the Veterans Administration.

Scholarships
Several business and civic organizations as well as the DeKalb Tech Foundation provide scholarships to qualified students. These scholarships usually provide funding for tuition, books, and other fees. Students interested in scholarships may request information from the Office of Student Financial Services.

Student Enrolled Aboard
A student enrolled in a program of study abroad that has been approved for credit by DeKalb Technical College may be considered as enrolled at DeKalb Technical College for the purpose of applying for assistance under the Title IV, HEA programs.
