CLT Mission Statement
The purpose of the Clinical Laboratory Technology Program is to provide students with career and economic opportunities in the field of laboratory medicine. This will be accomplished by facilitating the development of the individual's knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary in becoming successful in the laboratory setting and meeting the demands of technical growth.

DeKalb Tech’s Clinical Laboratory Technology Program offers a 2-year Associate in Applied Science degree for students with no college degree. CLT classes begin in the fall of each year and are sequential for 18 months. Students can begin prerequisites classes at any time.

The Program provides the knowledge and skills to qualify participants for a career in laboratory medicine. The program emphasizes a combination of didactic and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Both didactic and clinical instruction includes clinical chemistry, hematology/coagulation, immunohematology (blood banking), microbiology, immunology/ serology, urinalysis and phlebotomy.

Program graduates have the qualifications of a Clinical Laboratory Technician and are eligible for national certification. The Program allows the student to interface their 2-year degree with a 4-year online MT degree if desired.
