January 2007

Clarkston Campus Renaissance

Phase 2 Update

Tremendous progress has been made within the first month of 2007.  Construction is on track for an anticipated August 2007 completion.  For the month of January, our construction team has been able to open up several more areas for new trades to start their work.  This action re-sets the tempo for the completion which is something we all look forward to.

Building A is on schedule.  Structural steel and metal decking erection is almost completed.  There will be several additional weeks required in detailing of the steel structure.

More work areas have been opened for other trades such as plumbing, exterior walls, mechanical, and electrical.  During February, you should see more concrete walls being erected and beginning in late February, the brick work on the south stairwell tower should begin.  Also in February, all stairways should be roughed in.

Building E is also on track.  Structural steel and metal decking is almost complete.  While detailing of the steel structure continues, as with building A, additional work areas for other trades are opening up.

The Unexpected:  On Saturday, January 27th, an eight inch water pipe serving Georgia Perimeter College burst in the middle of our new driveway next to building B.  While the break was quickly repaired, the damage to our roadway was extensive.  The driveway from the break point to the road will have to be removed and completely rebuilt.  Just as our project was about to hit third gear, we have to gear down and crunch our way back.

The repair on the roadway will take a good while.  Thank you for your patience.  This will just make our project completion that much greater.
