North and South Drives

Having experienced good weather, the work on the North and South Drives has progressed well.  As you can observe from the aerial photos all drainage, curbing, and initial spreading of “crush and run” has been completed on the South Drive.  The North Drive has progressed to a point where most of the drainage work has been completed and the pouring of curbing has begun.

The bad news is that the completion date of the drives has been set back 10 to 12 days.  During the digging of the trenches for the North Drive drainage, an 8” water line and an 18” drainage line serving Georgia Perimeter College were discovered.  Since servicing these lines was not in the original drawings, the engineers are working out a solution that will allow for these lines. Until the revised drawings have been prepared, it is difficult to project an exact completion date.

Also, the North and South Drives will not be completely finished when turned over for our use in July.  Each will receive a primary asphalt binder that will be striped.  The application of the final top coat of asphalt will occur at the completion of the total project next year.  That way, when the buildings are turned over to us, each of the new parking lots will have a clean and shiny surface.

Until the North and South Drives are completed, the parking lot in front of “A” building will remain open. Thank each of you for the patience you have shown.  Everything possible is being done by the construction company to minimize inconveniences.
