Who to See About What

DeKalb Tech is committed to utilizing and offering the most current in educational technology to its students. Our Distance Learning courses are conducted between our Clarkston and Covington and Newton Center campuses using a live, two-way audio and video network. Fax machines are provided in each Distance Learning Lab to facilitate exchange of handouts and student work. The instructors are based on all three campuses and may instruct from different locations during the course of the quarter. In addition, instructors may place course materials on the internet making these hybrid courses.

Hybrid classes combine the best of online and face-to-face classroom educational experiences. The classroom component enables the student to have personal contact with the instructor and the online component permits flexibility to best suit the learning style of the student. Hybrid classes involve required but reduced seat time for the student. Students should check with the instructor the first week of classes for specific details.

Web-enhanced classes are offered on-campus and use the Internet in addition to the traditional face-to-face
classroom activities. The web site includes: Information, Electronic-Lecture-Notes (ELN’s), Assignments, Quizzes, Tests (multiple choice and free response), and other learning and collaboration features. Students access these features before and after class to further learn and reinforce what is taught and discussed in class.

See the Distance Learning web page for more information.
