DeKalb Technical College admits students regardless of age, sex, race, national origin, color or handicap. Students seeking admission into any credit or non-credit course or program must be at least 16 years of age. All applicants must submit a DeKalb Tech application form* with a non-refundable application fee. Or you can complete the on-line application with a non-refundable application fee payable by Visa or Mastercard.

Beginning Freshmen
Applicants who have had no previous college, university, or technical institute credit and desire to earn a diploma, degree, or certificate from DeKalb Tech are considered beginning freshmen and must submit the following:

• A completed application form* to the Admissions Office.

  A $20.00 non-refundable application fee (Check or Money Order only).

• Complete the on-line application form.

  A $20.00 non-refundable application fee is required to complete the online application form. This fee is payable by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only).

• An official high school transcript or GED scores. The applicant must request that official transcripts be mailed directly to the Admissions Office. If the transcript is in a language other than English, an official English translation is also required. Satisfactory scores on the COMPASS, SAT, ACT, CPE, or the ASSET Test.

The COMPASS Test includes English, reading, and mathematics. Its purpose is to determine if a prospective student needs additional basic skills or courses before beginning a planned program of study. Applicants will be notified by mail of their need to take the COMPASS Test.

Former Students
Students absent from DeKalb Tech for one full year (four consecutive quarters) or more have the following admission requirements:

• Submit a completed application form* to the Admissions Office or complete the
  on-line application form. No application fee is required of former credit seeking students.

• Meet DeKalb Tech Catalog admission requirements in effect at the time of re-admission. Submit to the Admissions Office all postsecondary official transcripts accrued since the previous DeKalb Tech enrollment.

Transfer Students
Applicants previously enrolled in one or more institutions of higher education and who wish to enroll in a credit program can be admitted when the following are submitted to the Admissions Office:

• A completed application form* or complete the on-line application form.

• A $20.00 non-refundable application fee.

• An official high school transcript or GED scores. If the transcript is in a language other than English, an official English translation is also required. If an applicant has an associate degree or a baccalaureate degree, a high school transcript is not required.
  
  
• Official transcripts from all technical institutes, colleges, and universities previously attended.

• Satisfactory scores on the COMPASS, SAT, ACT, CPE, or the ASSET Test.
